Selecting with Tr ack View
TrackViewprovidessophisticatedmethodstoedit
your animation tracks. In addition, its Hierarchy
list displays all objects in the scene by name and
hierarchy. Using Track View, you can select any
object in the scene by clicking its objec t icon in the
Hierarchy list.
Procedure
You can use Track View selection functionality in
both the Curve Editor (page 2–507) and the Dope
Sheet (page 2–507).Thisprocedureillustrates
usageoftheCurveEditor;thesamemethodswork
intheDopeSheet.
To open Track View and display a nd select objects:
1.
On the m ain toolbar, click Curve Editor
(Open).
2. Click any cube icon in the list to select the
named object.

Select several adjacent objects in the list. Click
the first object, hold down
Shif t ,andclick
another object elsewhere in the list.
Modify the selection by pressing
Ct rl while
clicking.
Ct rl lets you toggle indiv idual items
on and off without deselecting others in the list.
Select an object and al l its descendants. Press
and hold
Alt ,right-clicktheobjectscube
icon (keep the right mouse button held down),
and choose Select Children from the menu.
You can open a Track View window for the
sole purpose of selecting objects by name.
Shrink the window until only a portion of the
Hierarch y appears, and then move the windo w to
aconvenientareaonyourscreen.
Selecting with Schematic View
Schematic view is a window that displays the
objects in your scene in a hierarchical view. It
gives you an alternate way to select and choose the
objects in your scene and navigate to them.
When the Modify panel is open, double-clicking
an object modifier in Schematic view navigates the
modifier stack to that modifier for quick access
to its par ameters.
Procedure
To open Schematic V iew and display and select
obj ects :
1.
Click Open Schem
atic View on the main
toolbar .
2. Click the rectangle containing the name of your
object.
