Quickstart Guide Step 1 Configuring the In-Car Router It is highly recommended that the user enable WEP security and change the default password on the Autonet Mobile In-Car Router. Configuring the WiFi interface on your In-Car Router Turn your car to power up Autonet Mobile. Shortly “autonet” will appear in your wireless network list. Step 2 In your wireless network list connect to the wireless network that contains the name “autonet”. Step 3 Open your web browser. Click on the login button.
Configuring Wireless Settings Radio Mode Click on “Wireless Settings” This allows you to select whether the radio is in 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11a mode. Not all routers support all modes, so only the supported modes for your In-Car Router are shown. ESSID Channel Extended Service Set ID. The ESSID is the identifying name of a wireless network - strictly it is the identifying name of a wireless access point. It allows one wireless network to be clearly distinguishable from another.
Configuring Wireless Security Settings Bit rate Click on “Wireless Security” This allows you to set the bit rate in Mbs. The bit rate is the speed at which bits are transmitted over the medium. The user speed of the link is lower due to medium sharing and various overhead. Select a value to lock the card to a particular bit rate. If you specify auto, the driver will use all bit rates to find an optimum rate.
Configuring Login Screen Changing the password on your In-Car Router Click on “login control” Click on “Password” Normally a device that connects to the Autonet Mobile network must first click through the login screen that comes up on your web browser. However, there are some devices that do not have a web browser (cameras, music players, etc.) So we’ve created a method for disabling the login page for those devices.
Checking the Connection Status of the In-Car Router Troubleshooting Guide In your web browser open the URL http://www.autonetrouter.com to see the current connect status of your In-Car Router. The solid blue light on top of the In-Car Router indicates the internet connection is currently connected. If there are no WiFi users currently connected to the In-Car Router, the connection will be dropped and the blue light will start blinking to indicate that it is in idle mode.
Safety Policy Warning Pacemakers Please read this Safety Policy concerning the use of a wireless router suitable for use in motorized vehicles (“Autonet Mobile”) before operating the In-Car Router. Retain this Safety Policy for your future reference. Accessories Use only accessories manufactured by Autonet Mobile, Inc. with the In-Car Router. The use of any accessories not manufactured by Autonet Mobile, Inc. for use with the In-Car Router may be dangerous.
Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Foreign Objects and Liquids Turn the In-Car Router off when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere and obey all signs and instructions. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire and result in bodily injury or death. Never push objects of any kind into the In-Car Router or any accessories because such insertion may cause parts to short out and result in a fire or electric shock.
Service Antenna Care Disconnect your In-Car Router, any charging unit, or any accessory and, if necessary, refer them to qualified service personnel if: Only use any supplied integral antenna with the In-Car Router. Unauthorized antenna modifications, or attachments could damage the In-Car Router and may violate U.S. Federal communications commission (FCC) regulations. No one should hold the antenna or let it come into contact with his or her body when the In-Car Router is in use.
Specific Absorption Rate Data The In-Car Router meets U.S. Government requirements for exposure to radio waves. The In-Car Router is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to RF energy set by the FCC. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of exposure to RF energy for the general population.
