About Your Water Cooler Benefits: The drip tray is the most unsanitary part of a water cooler. Water is constantly collecting in the drip tray and most people do not empty or clean the drip tray unless it is full. This can lead to unwanted bacteria and viruses building up in the drip tray. The dispensing area and spout can also be areas of unwanted bacteria growth. These bacteria or viruses can easily spread to drinking cups or other parts of the cooler.
