5. Coil any excess lead length underneath the pulse generator in the implant pocket.
After implanting the leads, test the lead systems. Because of the difference in capacitance between the
pulse generator and an external stimulation device, we strongly recommend device-based testing.
However, you may want to use a single, initial test using an external stimulation device to screen for
patients with a high defibrillation threshold before you open the pulse generator package.
Patient Notifier. Before setting Patient Notifier On, test and ensure patient awareness of the Patient
Notifier feature.
Managing and Following Patients
Patient Education
Abbott Medical provides a booklet for patients to explain the device and its operation. You can use this
to supplement your discussions with the patient, and spouse or other interested persons. To obtain

Implant/Patient Registration Form
Fill out and return both the Implant/Patient Registration Form and the device registration card to register
the patient and facilitate patient tracking.
