About the External Alerter and Recording Interface The External Alerter and Recording Interface connect s to any 3900 series Digital Telephone except the 3901 which has no accessory port. In order to use the External Alerter And Recording Interface accessory, the telephone must be equipped with the 3900 series ACM (Accessory Connection Module) in the footstand and the power supply (purchase separately).
Installation The External Alerter and Recording Interface can be installed in the large or small port of a 3902, 3903 , 3904 or 3905 Digital Telephone. Three output connectors are provided on the back of the External Alerter and Recording Interface cartridge as shown in Figure 1.0. There is no need to disconnect the power supply from the telephone prior to insertion or extraction of the Meridian External Alerter and Recording Interface cartridge. Figure 1.
Installation (Cont'd) 1. The RJ12 modular jack provides access to all three output signals and is intended for wiring connection to remotely located equipment (not on the desktop).

Troubleshooting 1. Ensure that the ACM (Accessory Connection Module) power supply is connected to the telephone and plugged into a working AC outlet. 2. Ensure that the External Alerter and Recording Interface is completely inserted and the release latch is engaged. 3. If using the RJ12 jack, ensure that the modular cord contains 6 wires. If using the 2.5mm or 3.5mm jacks ensure that the plugs are fully inserted.
