Checklist: Setup Tablet Application Integration
To enable a connection between an iPad touch-screen device to the Command workgroup,
you must complete the following tasks. If you are viewing this checklist online, you can
easily link to a topic that provides procedural details for the task. Return to this main
checklist after you have completed each task.
Install the Avid Remote Communication Service
The Command tablet application requires a WiFi connection and must be able to connect to
the computer running the Avid Remote Communication Service.
Although the Avid Remote Communication Service can be installed on any computer in the
Command workgroup, Avid recommends it be installed on the Command Server. It should
be selected as one of the services installed during the Command Server installation
procedure. See the step about selecting services from the Custom Setup dialog box in
“Installing Avid iNEWS Command on the Server” on page 40 for more information.
If you did not install this service when originally setting up the Command Server, or if you
want to install it on a different computer, such as a Command Workstation, you can still do
so.
Possible scenarios for install locations are:
Install the service on the Command Server.
Install the service on a Command Workstation.
Install the service on a computer in the studio and route connection between studio
computer and the Command Server.
