Configuring the TruePort Clients
After you complete configuration on the IOLAN server, you need to configure the TruePort
clients.
To configure TruePort clients:
1. Run the TruePort Management Tool.
2. Click the Add button.
3. In the Add TruePort Adapter Wizard dialog box, enter the IP address for the IOLAN
server and click Next.
4. Add the number of serial ports corresponding to your server (such as 2, 4, 8, or 16), and
choose a starting COM port.
n
Avid recommends you choose 50 as the starting COM port, so that it is clear that you are
using the serial-to-IP ports.
5. Click Next and then Finish to save changes.
6. From the TruePort Management Tool’s main window, click Properties to configure the
ports.
7. On the Configuration tab, click Settings.
8. In the Perle TruePort Adapter Setting dialog box, confirm that the listening ports match
the ones configured on the server: 10001 - 10008.
9. On the Connection tab, set Connection Mode to Full Mode.
10. Select Initiate connection to device server, and then confirm that the TCP port is 10001.
11. Click the Settings button to change the Client-Initiated Connection settings accordingly:
a. Confirm that Connect at system startup is not selected.
b. Select Close TCP connection when COM port is closed.
c. Select Delay close of TCP connection, and set it to two (2) seconds.
d. In the Connection Options section, select Number of retries and set it to one (1).
e. Set the Time between connection retries to three (3) seconds.
f. Deselect Restore a dropped connection.
