1 Installing and Configuring the Command Server
58
For sites still using serial cards, you can use mirrored playback to achieve redundant
functionality for devices with VDCP control.
To configure VDCP devices for redundant mirrored playback:
1. Install and configure the VDS that controls the primary device channels of the primary
Command Server.
2. Install and configure the VDS that controls the mirrored device channels on the backup
server.
n
The mirror VDS should use a different device name, such as device2, from the primary VDS.
The mirror VDS will run as an active primary service, even though it’s running on the
backup server.
3. In the event of a primary server failure, users should switch to mirror-only playback.
Transfer Status Icon
Command can show the transfer status of items that are sent to playback from Interplay.
Command displays the transfer status icon—an orange arrow—in the Inventory panel to
denote that the item is transferring.
This integration requires the following:
• Interplay Transfer Manager, using the Send to Playback feature.
• The Transfer Manager be entered in the configuration of the Avid Video device service.
To see the transfer status icon, the user needs to have the Inventory panel open and the
correct channel group selected at a Command Workstation.
