Checklist: Installing the AirSpeed Video Server
Ensuring integration with video devices, such as the AirSpeed 5000 or AirSpeed Multi
Stream, requires installation of various components and services, as well as some
configuration. The following is a checklist of activities an installer should verify to ensure a
successful installation.
Complete the following tasks in the order that they are listed. If you are viewing this
checklist online, you can easily access a linked topic that provides procedural details for the
task. Return to this main checklist after you have completed each task.
After installation, some configuration is required. For more information, see “Checklist:
Configuring the AirSpeed Video Server” on page 78.
n
Regardless of whether the AirSpeed video server is a capture and/or playback server, ensure
it is in the Interplay workgroup. If it is a playback server that will be controlled by iNEWS
Command, it must be configured to join a second workgroup—the same workgroup as the
Command servers.
Tasks Refer to...
Rack, cable, and connect the AirSpeed video
server to the network.
The documentation that came with your Avid
AirSpeed video server for more information.
Install the core components of Avid Service
Framework on the video server.

Install the AirSpeed software. The documentation that came with your Avid
AirSpeed Multi Stream or AirSpeed 5000 for
more information.
Install the AirSpeed Multi Stream device service
from the Avid iNEWS Command software
installation CD. Both AirSpeed video servers, the
5000 and Multi Stream, use the AMS device
service.
