5 Clips Avid Interplay Capture creates clips from recordings. Master clips are written to Interplay to represent a recording. Capture controls ingest devices (Airspeed, AMS, and Low-resolution encoders) that all create their own Master Clips, which Capture refers to as device clips.
5 Clips Overview The Master Clip is also how Capture associates multiple device clips together into one Master Clip that can be accessed when using an editor. There are four scenarios when multiple device clips are associated with the recording’s Master Clip.
Master Clip Start and End Times Device Clip Updates Devices, such as AirSpeed, AirSpeed Multi Stream, and Low-resolution encoders each create their own Master clips referred to in Interplay Capture as a device clip. Every time a device clip is updated, Capture updates the Master Clip in Interplay. This allows searches for recent media to return long recordings that are still in progress.
5 Clips Clip Metadata Metadata about a recording is included in the Master Clip in Interplay. The metadata includes the following: • Recording Name • Tape Name • Comments • Aspect Ratio Name • Thumbnail • Start Time • End Time — Changed durations during the recording reflect in the next metadata update to the Master Clip (triggered by device clip updates). • Current Video Resolution — Capture uses the resolution from the first device clip it finds that is not a low-resolution.
Clip Retransfer Master Clip changes folders in Interplay, Capture can still locate and write updates to it. If the Master Clip is deleted from Interplay and Capture needs to update something in the clip, Capture recreates the Master Clip in the original folder requested in the recording’s details. Clip Retransfer Clip retransfer creates new media located in shared storage (ISIS) and additional file locators associated with the Master Clip.
5 Clips n Low-resolution clips cannot be retransferred because the low-resolution encoder does not keep recordings on local disk. 3. Select Retransfer from the menu. After retransfer request is sent, the original clip’s transfer status is grayed out and a new clip shows up on the Clip tab in the directory. The new clip has its own transfer status indicating the progress of the retransfer. If the clip is still on the ingest device’s hard drive the retransfer attempts to start.
A Button and Tool Quick Reference Avid Interplay Capture uses many different buttons and tools to help you make your actions quick and precise.
