How can this result be explained?
The white X is filled in with the color bar pattern - that’s why the clip above
the Matte Track is called “Fill”
or “Foreground”.
The black area around the X is replaced by the background, provided by the clip beneath the Matte Track.
This is a standard-issue key effect.
The X itself is a title clip created in TitleDeko. It’s just the letter X, color white, horizontally stretched, on
a black = transparent background. This clip provides the alpha plane. The Matte Track detects the alpha
plane automatically.
