Project Organization
There’re a couple factors to keep in mind when compositing a project destined for playout. The following
table provides tips and tricks for effectively organizing your projects.
Graphics Editing
During the graphics editing portion of your workflow,
compositions should be within the WorkArea level (group).
For instance, the group “Rundown_3” (right) contains three
compositions that are currently being edited and therefore
are located within the WorkArea.
Your compositions should remain within the WorkArea
while you add and modify objects, and also while you
create animations (productions).
When you’re completely done editing a composition, or
group of compositions, meaning they’re ready for playout,
you should put them within the StormLogic level (group).
This step must be done in the Object Pane, but the change
is reflected in both the StormLogic Pane and Object Pane.
Learn: To place composition(s) within the StormLogic level,
drag the composition(s) onto the WorkArea level group.
This will place your composition(s) at the same level as the
WorkArea, making them brothers. Next, drag the
WorkArea group and drop it anywhere below the original
composition(s) you moved. Your composition(s) are now
within the StormLogic Level.
Any additional moves will require you to simply drag and
drop compositions onto the first composition or group of
compositions that you moved, e.g., to the right,
“Rundown_3” was moved by dropping it onto “Rundown_2”,
which is already within the StormLogic Level.
Placing your compositions within the StormLogic level
ensures they’re not accidently edited, deleted, or
rearranged. However, playout applications like Avid Motion
Graphics Control will still take to air any compositions, even
if they’re at the WorkArea level; and, Avid Motion Graphics
will still allow you to edit your graphics while they’re within
the StormLogic level.
This rule, for only editing your compositions within the
WorkArea and only playing out compositions within the
StormLogic level is a best practice, but not mandatory.
