Avid does not support the use of the Avid 002 with Avid video editing applications on
Macintosh systems. However, you can use the Avid 002 with Avid Pro Tools on Macintosh
systems,
The following table compares some of the features of the 002 and Command|8.
Using the 002 with Avid Input/Output Hardware (Windows Only)
Windows systems with Avid Adrenaline, Avid Mojo, and Avid Mojo SDI input/output
hardware can use the 002 as an external audio device. This means you can use the 002 to
play, record, and output audio. This option is not available for systems with Avid Nitris DX
and Avid Mojo DX hardware.
When you attach the 002 to your Avid editing system, all of its audio input and output
connections are live. However, the Avid input/output hardware device and the 002 remain as
two separate audio sub-systems. They are not combined to increase the number of available
audio channels. Audio I/O works as follows:
The system creates a list of input options based on the audio devices that are present. For
example, 002 analog, 002 S/PDIF, and Avid DNA analog.
For output, all 8 channels are played to the 002 and the input/output hardware
simultaneously.
n
You cannot hear the results of audio scrubbing when the 002 is attached to the Avid
Adrenaline system.
You need to make additional cable connections between the 002 and your Avid input/output
hardware in order to maintain sync between audio and video. When the sync cable is
connected correctly between the 002 and your Avid input/output hardware, your Avid
editing application displays a green 002 in the Timeline top toolbar.
n
You can also use the 002 as a standalone mixer. However, you cannot use the 002 as a mixer
while you are using it as the audio input and output device for your Avid editing application.
