Monitoring the Encoding
For troubleshooting
information, see
Appendix B.
After you submit the batch to be encoded, you can monitor the jobs
using the following:
DMS Administration Tool: The DMS Administration Tool gives
you the most information for monitoring and managing jobs. For
complete information, see Chapter 4.
DMS Broker and ProEncode Provider windows: Each window
includes a Status line and a History window. The History window
includes information that you can use for troubleshooting.
Canceling Jobs
To cancel a job in progress, you must use the DMS Administration
Tool. See “Canceling a Job” on page 83.
Adding Custom Settings to ProEncode
Cleaner 5 lets you save the encoding and processing parameters you
apply to a file to create custom settings. If you create custom settings,
you need to register the settings with the DMS Broker by running the
ProEncode Registration Tool.
When you register a custom setting with a particular Provider, the
setting is associated with that Provider. This association provides a
way for the Broker to direct particular jobs to a particular encoder. For
example, if one of your encoders uses an acceleration board for MPEG
processing, start Cleaner 5 and create a setting named “MPEG
Acceleration.” Then, register this setting as described in the following
procedure. The next time you submit a job from a ProEncode Client,
select the custom setting. Because the DMS Broker associates only one
Provider with this setting, the job will be sent to that Provider.
