Creating New Sessions or
Projects from Templates
You can create new session or project from tem-
plates by opening a template. You can open any
Pro Tools Session Template file (.ptt) to start a
new session based on that template.
Project and Session
Metadata
Pro Tools provides a Metadata Inspector window
for sessions and projects. Sessions and projects
have slightly different Metadata options.This win-
dow lets you view and edit metadata for sessions
and projects. However, certain metadata is display
only (such as Sample Rate and Bit Depth). Meta-
data is stored with the session file (.ptx) or with the
project bundle.
To open the Metadata Inspector:
 Choose Window > Metadata Inspector.
Metadata Inspector Window
The Metadata Inspector window displays the fol-
lowing information about your session or project.
Some metadata can be edited and some is display
only.
Name (Sessions Only) Displays the name of the
session.
Project Name (Projects Only) Displays the name
of the project.
Project Owner (Projects Only) Displays the name
of the project owner.
Title Enter a title that is independent of the name of
the session or project.
Artist(s) Enter the name of the artist (or artists) for
the session or project.
Contributor(s) Enter the names of the contributors
to the session or project.
Sample Rate Displays the session or project sam-
ple rate. The
Sample Rate can also be viewed in
the Workspace.
Bit Depth Displays the session or project bit depth.
The
Bit Depth can also be viewed in the Work-
space.
Location Enter the location where the session or
project was recorded.
Date Created Display the date and time that the
session or project was created. The
Date Created
can also be viewed in the Workspace.
Date Modified Displays the date and time that the
session or project was last modified. The
Date
Modified
can also be viewed in the Workspace.
BPM Displays the tempo or range of tempos used
in the session or project in beats per minute.
BPM
can also be viewed in the Workspace as Tempo.
