Ref Present, Locked, and Speed Cal
Indicators
The Ref Present, Locked, and Speed Cal indica-
tors in the
SYNC Setup section of the Session
Setup window display synchronization status of
the SYNC HD. The
Locked and Speed Cal indica-
tors reflect the state of the same LEDs on the front
panel.
Ref Present Indicator
The Ref Present indicator
lights when the Video Ref In connector is receiv-
ing a valid video signal.
Locked Indicator
The Locked indicator lights
solid green when the SYNC HD is locked to the se-
lected clock reference. The Locked indicator
flashes yellow if the selected clock reference
source is missing or out of lockable range.
Speed Cal Indicator
This indicator shows the sta-
tus of the incoming clock reference:
Yellow Solid: SYNC HD is locked and the clock
reference is within 0.025% of the expected rate
Yellow Flashing Fast: SYNC HD is locked but
the clock reference is between 0.025% and 4%
faster than the expected rate
Yellow Flashing Slow: SYNC HD is locked but
the clock reference is between 0.025% and 4%
slower than the expected rate
Red Flashing Fast: SYNC HD is locked but the
clock reference is more than 4% faster than the
expected rate
Red Flashing Slow: SYNC HD is locked but the
clock reference is more than 4% slower than the
expected rate
Unlit: SYNC HD is not locked to the chosen
clock reference
External Timecode Offsets
In the External Timecode Offsets section,
Pro Tools lets you compensate for devices that are
consistently offset by a fixed number of frames
(such as some color–corrected video masters), or
for material that starts at a different time than the
session.
Pro Tools provides four different types of External
Timecode Offset settings. These offsets include:
MMC (MIDI Machine Control)
9-Pin (Deck Control)
Synchronization peripherals, including
SYNC HD (HDX or HD Native systems only),
or other peripherals (such as MIDI interfaces
that provide MIDI Timecode).
Satellite
Unique values can be defined for each of these
types of offsets, or you can link all to adjust in uni-
son.
Positive and negative offset values can be entered
to offset Pro Tools timecode display later or ear-
lier, respectively.
Additional options for External Timecode Offsets
are available when using MachineControl with
Pro Tools | Ultimate software. See the Machine-
Control Guide for more information.
