Chapter 20: Importing and Exporting Session Data 449
Export Selected Tracks as
New Session or Project
Pro Tools lets you export any selected tracks in a
session or project as a new session or project. This
feature is especially useful in collaborative situa-
tions.
For example, you might be working on a large
post-production session and you want your collab-
orator to work on only some dialog in the session
or project while you continue working on other
parts of the session. You can now select the dialog
tracks and export them as a new session or project.
Your collaborator can then open the new session or
project and edit the dialog. When your collaborator
is done, you can import the session data from the
dialog session or project to update the dialog tracks
in your big session or project.
To export selected tracks as a new session or
project:
1 Select the tracks you want to export as a new
session or project.
2 Choose File > Export > Selected Tracks As New
Session
. The Save Copy In dialog opens. (You
can also open the Save Copy In dialog by
choosing
File > Save Copy In.)
3 In the Save Copy In dialog, verify that the Se-
lected Tracks Only
option is enabled.
4 Configure the Format (Project or Session) and
Session Parameters settings and options.
5 Configure the Items to Copy settings and
options.
6 For projects only, enable (or disable) the
Backup to Cloud options to create an online
project (or an offline project).
7 You can also enable the Main Playlist Only
option if you do not want to include any of
the alternate playlists associated with any of the
selected tracks in the new session or project.
8 Click OK.
9 Either the Save dialog opens or the Save Project
Copy dialog opens depending on the
Format
setting. Type a name for the session or project.
10 For sessions only, navigate to where you want
to save the session.
11 Click Save.
