11. Tray Icon
The tray icon in the system tray of the taskbar displays the status of the Real-Time
Protection service.

Avira Real-Time Protection is enabled
Avira Real-Time Protection is disabled
Entries in the context menu
 Enable Real-Time Protection: Enables or disables the Avira Real-Time Protection.
 Enable Web Protection: Enables or disables the Avira Web Protection.
 Enable Windows Firewall: Enables or disables the Windows Firewall (this feature is
available starting from Windows 8).
 Start Avira Free Antivirus: Opens the Control Center.
 Configure Avira Free Antivirus: Opens the Configuration.
 My messages: Opens a slide-up with the current information about your Avira product.
 Start update Starts an update.
 Help: opens the Online Help.
 Experts Market - Ask for help: opens the Experts Market - Ask for help website where
you can ask for help or offer your help to other users.
 About Avira Free Antivirus: Opens a dialog box with information on your Avira
product: Product information, Version information, License information.
 Avira on the Internet: Opens the Avira web portal on the Internet. The condition for this
is that you have an active connection to the Internet.
Note
The User Account Control (UAC) will ask for your permission to enable or
disable the Real-Time Protection and Web Protection services in operating
systems as of Windows Vista.
