PrincipleofOperation(Example:PaintApplication)
APLCtransmitsflowinstructionstotheEMO‐3000.TheEMO‐3000thenusesanI/Pconverterand
pneumaticpressuretocontrolthefluidregulator.Themetermeas ures theflowtothepaintnozzle.The
EMO‐3000comparesthisvaluetotheset‐valueandmakesanyadjustmentsrequired.
Thedevice’s
internalmemoryretainsflowvaluesfromearliercyclesandcontin uouslymodifiesthemas
newconditionsoccur.TheEMO‐3000buildsadaptivedatatablesforupto30fluidsorcolors,ensuringa
fast,highlypreciseresponseforawidevarietyoffluidsandconditions.
Hardware
TheEMO‐3000’spowersupplyandchannelcardsneatlyintegrateintoadurable,efficient,and
convenientanodized‐aluminumhousingcompatiblewithEUROmoduleplug‐intypes.Theunitis
expandabletoamaximumof12channels,in4‐channelincrements.Eachinterlockingsectionhasits
ownindependentpowersupply.
TheEMO
‐3000’spowersupplyusesplug‐intypefuseholders,whichallowforeasyreplacementwithout
havingtoremovetheentirepowersupplycard.ThreeLEDsindicate whethertheAC,positive,and
negativelegsaresupplyingthechannel cards(refertoAppendixI).Ananodizedaluminumstripsecures
thecardsto
thehousing.Ononeendofthisstrip,thescrewterminalslotsecuresthecardinplace.At
theotherend,a90‐degreebendhelpswithremovalorinsertionofthecard.Thewatchdogchip
monitorsthemicroprocesso ractivityandissuesaresetaftera1.6seconddelay.Eachchannel
cardalso
hasaredLEDthatblinks whenthemicroprocessoris running,andblinksfasterwhenafrequencyinput
isappliedtothechannel.
EMO‐3000unitsmanufacturedafterJuly,1993haveRS‐232and4‐wireRS‐485serialcommunication
protocol.TheRS‐485serialcommunicationisbackward
compatibletothepreviouslyused4‐wireRS‐
422.Asanoption,thesecommunicationsportscanbeopticallyinsulatedfromtherestoftheEMO‐
3000.TheRS‐232tothe(optional)DM‐3000displayisnotopticallyinsulated.
