PrincipleofOperation(Example:PaintApplication)
APLCtransmitsflowinstructionstotheEMO3000.TheEMO3000thenusesanI/Pconverterand
pneumaticpressuretocontrolthefluidregulator.Themetermeas ures theflowtothepaintnozzle.The
EMO3000comparesthisvaluetothesetvalueandmakesanyadjustmentsrequired.
Thedevice’s
internalmemoryretainsflowvaluesfromearliercyclesandcontin uouslymodifiesthemas
newconditionsoccur.TheEMO3000buildsadaptivedatatablesforupto30fluidsorcolors,ensuringa
fast,highlypreciseresponseforawidevarietyoffluidsandconditions.
Hardware
TheEMO3000’spowersupplyandchannelcardsneatlyintegrateintoadurable,efficient,and
convenientanodizedaluminumhousingcompatiblewithEUROmoduleplugintypes.Theunitis
expandabletoamaximumof12channels,in4channelincrements.Eachinterlockingsectionhasits
ownindependentpowersupply.
TheEMO
3000’spowersupplyusesplugintypefuseholders,whichallowforeasyreplacementwithout
havingtoremovetheentirepowersupplycard.ThreeLEDsindicate whethertheAC,positive,and
negativelegsaresupplyingthechannel cards(refertoAppendixI).Ananodizedaluminumstripsecures
thecardsto
thehousing.Ononeendofthisstrip,thescrewterminalslotsecuresthecardinplace.At
theotherend,a90degreebendhelpswithremovalorinsertionofthecard.Thewatchdogchip
monitorsthemicroprocesso ractivityandissuesaresetaftera1.6seconddelay.Eachchannel
cardalso
hasaredLEDthatblinks whenthemicroprocessoris running,andblinksfasterwhenafrequencyinput
isappliedtothechannel.
EMO3000unitsmanufacturedafterJuly,1993haveRS232and4wireRS485serialcommunication
protocol.TheRS485serialcommunicationisbackward
compatibletothepreviouslyused4wireRS
422.Asanoption,thesecommunicationsportscanbeopticallyinsulatedfromtherestoftheEMO
3000.TheRS232tothe(optional)DM3000displayisnotopticallyinsulated.
