TEAM Climate Monitoring Protocol 3.0
35
6.1.2 Retrieving the Data from a dedicated data logger (Level 3).
TO BE COMPLETED.
6.1.3 Extract the Climate Measurement Data File from the Memory Card
The following steps describe the process to extract the Climate Measurement Data file
Open the PC200W software.
Create local storage directory: Establish a local directory to store Climate Measurement Files.
Convert the file from the card into a readable format:
From the PC200W tools menu, select Card Convert. This will open up the Card
Convert Window.
Select the Card Drive and the Output directory.
Press the Start Conversion to generate the text file. All Climate Measurement files
should be stored here in the future.
The data are now ready for upload. Go to Section 6.1.4.
6.1.4 Upload the data to the TEAM portal:
The Climate Measurement Data File will be uploaded to the TEAM Network portal. A fully,
dynamic data management system for all Climate Protocol data and forms is being developed.
The interim solution is the following:
Step 1. Go the www.teamnetwork.org and log into the portal.
Step 2. Go to the MyTEAM area and select “Projects”.
Step 3. Every TEAM Site implementing the 3.0 version of the Climate Protocol will have a
project titled: “TEAM-Site-Name Climate Repository” (e.g. Nam Kading Climate Repository).
Click on this project.
Step 4. Each project contains an Instructions tab, a File Upload tab and Site Personnel tab. All
Climate forms and most importantly the Climate Measurement Data File produced in Section
6.1.3 are to be uploaded here. NOTE: Please read the Instructions tab as it defines how to name
your files and forms.
6.2 Checking rainfall measurements against the manual rain gauge
Automatic tipping buckets, like the one used in this protocol (TB4) can misread the amount of
rainfall during extreme rainfall events (> 50 mm/hour) (e.g. Nystuen 1999). Thus, it is a good
idea to check rainfall measurements after these events with a manual precipitation bucket (e.g. a
US weather type). We suggest the following guidelines to ensure this information can be
captured in a standardized way.
