System options
Security
User access control is enabled by default, when the administrator sets the root password on
first access. New users are authorized with user names and passwords, or the administrator
can choose to allow anonymous viewer login to the Live View page, as described below:
Users
The u
ser list displays the authorized users and access levels:
To prevent unauthorized use of the product, the AXIS 241QA/AXIS 241SA network
came
ra supports multi-user password protection, where access can be restricted to a
defined number of users only (maximum of 20).
The AXIS 241QA/AXIS 241SA Network Camera supports
several methods of user
authentication. These are:
• HTTP Basic Authentication
- This authenticates the user by requesting a user
name and a password. The exchange of network credentials is in simple
base64 coding and is not encrypted.
• HTTP
Digest Authentication - This method also requests a user name and pass-
word, but the exchange of credentials is e
ncrypted, which better secures it
against eavesdropping.
User settings - ch
eck the corresponding checkboxes to enable:
• Anony
mous viewer login - allows viewers direct access to the Live View page.
• Anonymous
PTZ control login - allows any viewer access to the Pan Tilt Zoom
controls on the Live View page (if Pan/Tilt/Zoom is available).
IP Address Filter
Che
cking the Enable IP address filtering box enables the IP address filtering function. Up
to 256 IP address entries may be specified (a single entry can contain multiple IP
addresses). Click the Add button to add new filtered addresses.
When the IP address filter is enabled, addresses
added to the list are set as allowed or
denied addresses. If the addresses in the list are allowed, then all others are denied access,
and vice versa. See also the online help for more information.
Viewer Provides the lowest level of access, which only allows the user access to the Live View page
Operator An Operator can view the Live View page, creat
e and modify event types and adjust certain other
settings. The Operator does not have access to the Systems Options configuration pages.
Administrator An administrator has unrestricted access to the Setup Tools and can
determine the registration of all
other users.
