Event Conguration Wizard
Event Conguration Wizard
Event Conguration Wizard helps yo u set up rules for triggers and actions in AXIS Camera Station. By setting up a rule you can assign
actions to triggers; for instance when motion is detected, a siren will sound and recording will beg in on des ignated cameras.
Triggers are classied as:
Motion Detection A motion detection e v ent is triggered when an Axis camera detects motion within its dened area.
DetectionisperformedbythecamerawhichmeansnoprocessingloadtoAXISCameraStation.
Active Tampering Alarm An a ctive tampering alarm occurs when the ca m era is repositioned or w hen the lens is covered,
sprayed or severely defocused.
AXIS Cross Line Detection An AXIS Cross Line Detection event is triggered when a camera detects moving ob jects that
cross a virtual line. See notes below.
System Event and Error
A system event and error triggers on recor ding errors, when connection t o a camera is los t, a cces s
to the recording disk is denied or when the recording disk is full.
Advanced triggers:
Input/Output Input/Output is when a ca m era's I/O port receives a signal from an e xternal device, such as a
doorbell, smoke detector or switch.
Device Event Trigger The device event trigger is intended for advanced users and can be used if no other trigger is
applicable. This trigger allows you to select any even t available in a camera, for example events
from applications uploaded to cameras with s upport for AXIS Camera Application Platform. For
information about available events, refer to the camera’s help les.
Actions ar e classied as:
Record
Start a recording from a specied camera.
Raise alarm
Send an alarm to all connected clients. An alarm procedure can be included.
Set Output Set the state of an output port. This can be used to control an external device connected to the port.
Send e-mail Send an e-mail notication to one or more recipients. Snapshots can be atta
ched.
Live view
Open a specic view, camera or PTZ preset position.
Note
I/O ports must be added to AXIS Camera Station before being used in the Event Conguration Wizard. See Add Inputs
and Outp uts, on page 38.
Active Tampering Alarms are supported by products with tampering capabilities and rmware 5.11 and later.
AXIS Cross Line Detection is an application that must be uploaded to the network camera o r video encoder. The application
can b e uploaded to products with support for AXIS Camera Application Platform. For m ore information, r efer to AXIS
Cross Line Detection User’s Guide.
Device event triggers are supported by products with rmware 5.40 and later.
Create a Rule
The example described in this chapter demonstrates how to use the Event Conguration Wizard to create a rule that starts a
recording, raises an alarm and sends an e-mail each time a door is opened. The door switch is connected to an inp ut port of the
camera monitoring the door.
Start by creating a new rule:
1. Open the Conguration menu and select Event Conguration.
2. Click New to open the New Rule dialog.
