On one
edge the
radius changes
from 13mm(1/2”) to
3mm(1/8”) over its length.
The opposite edge is tapered at
an angle of about 40° making it ideal for
sharpening the inside of parting tools. The overall design allows the
sharpening of a wide variety of tools from fl at and wide to small
narrow gouges and all vee tools. Size 106(4.1/4) long x 50(2) wide x
9.5mm(3/8”) thick. Also available in 180 grit for removing nicks.

Carver’s Stone
A set of two 4000 grit waterstones. Firstly, a 108 x 63.5 x 16mm
block with 5 shallow rounded grooves on one side for sharpening
the bevels of a wide range of sweeps of carving tools, the reverse
side and edges can obviously be used for fl at tools. Secondly, a
small slip stone 63.5 x 38mm tapered with two round edges 3 x
6mm radius for inside small tools etc.

Power Honing
This is a standard Creusen 7000 Series grinder
but modifi ed to run in the opposite direction to
normal i.e. with the top of the wheel going away
from, rather than towards, the user. It is used in the
Creusen Koch System described below but offered
here as a bare grinder without any wheels for those
who want to make up their own honing, polishing
or sharpening system. It is supplied complete with
guards, tool rests, wheel clamping washers and eye
shields and will take wheels of maximum diameter
150mm(6”) and maximum width 20mm(3/4”). The
shaft diameter is 15mm.

Reverse Running Grinder
A fi rst class honing system which combines the
effi ciency and reliability of a reverse running Creusen
grinder with the famous German Koch honing wheels.
The hard white honing wheel is for straight edges and
shallow curved tools and the brown, more fl exible wheel
for curved edged tools. Also included is a block of Koch
green honing soap for use on the wheels. Producing
a true mirror-polished edge on your carving tools is
simplicity itself, just apply a small amount of soap to the
wheel and then gently apply the bevel of the tool to
the top of the wheel to produce a razor-sharp polished
edge. Wheel size: 120mm diameter x 20mm width, with a
9.5mm bore. N.B. The Koch felt honing wheels will require
the simple drilling/reaming of the central hole before
fi tting to the shaft of the grinder.

Honing System
These are the felt wheels fi tted to the Creusen Koch sharpening
system here available separately. The white medium felt wheel
is used for straight or gently curved carving tools and the
brown wheel has a unique thermoplastic characteristic which
enables it to deform when in use and to take up the shape
of more curved tools. The wheels have a diameter of 120mm
and a width of 20mm. The 8mm bore can be easily drilled out
to suit a motor shaft or power drill arbor. A bar of Koch green
soap (approximately 1kg) should be adequate for many years of
service. Don’t forget that for safety’s sake the wheels must rotate
such that the top of the wheel moves away from the user.
