Specification

Thank you for purchasing the SGM-3500 or SGM-3500L Broadcast
Spec Shotgun Microphone. Designed for video and audio
professionals, the SGM-3500 and 3500L microphones are
condenser microphones with supercardioid and hypercardioid polar
patterns, respectively, a wide frequency response and ultra-low
noise levels. Each microphone is tested before leaving the factory
and is accompanied by its own unique frequency response chart.
Microphone Output
The SGM-3500 and SGM-3500L microphones have a balanced
3-pin XLR output that is designed to work with a standard XLR
microphone input. The contacts of this output are gold plated for
optimal connectivity and resistance to corrosion. Any standard,
balanced XLR microphone cable can be used for connecting this
microphone to other equipment (sold separately).
Phantom Power
The SGM-3500 and SGM-3500L microphones require phantom
power in order to work. Phantom power is a DC voltage supplied
through a balanced microphone cable and used to power the
electronics of the connected microphone. Most professional
cameras, mixers and audio interfaces with microphone XLR
preamps have the ability to supply phantom power. If the equipment
you use does not, you will have to utilize a separate external
phantom power supply.
Most commonly, phantom power is supplied at 48 V. This is the
optimal voltage for the SGM-3500 and SGM-3500L microphones. It
is possible that your connected equipment supplies a different
voltage. This microphone is rated to work on a voltage between 44
and 52 V, however, performance will degrade with lower voltages
and damage to the electronics could result when using voltages in
excess of this range. It is recommended that you consult the
manuals of any equipment you intend to use with this microphone
beforehand. Please note that the warranty does not cover damage
caused by using phantom power beyond what the microphone is
rated for.
Microphone Clip
The included microphone clip is designed to fit either the
SGM-3500 or SGM-3500L snuggly, and has a 5/8” threaded hole
on the bottom which will fit USA standard microphone boom poles.
Also included is a thread adapter for fitting to boom poles with a 3/8”
thread European standard pole. The clip can articulate to adjust for
the proper angle when booming.
