MODEL 300 COMBUSTION ANALYZER
3-18 Instruction 24-9223
3.9 CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
If the analyzer is powered by a battery pack, charge the pack as described
below (also see Fig. 3-8).
A fully charged battery pack will run the analyzer through at least 200
combustion efficiency tests (6 hours minimum); although, typical operat-
ing time is between 12–16 hours. When the battery pack becomes dis-
charged, its BATTERY STATUS LED turns off. The analyzer, however,
will continue to operate for approximately 1 hour; after which, the pack’s
internal circuitry completely shuts down the analyzer to prevent a deep
discharge of the pack’s lead-acid batteries.
Recharge the battery pack whenever its BATTERY STATUS LED no
longer lights. The pack, however, can be recharged at anytime; you don’t
need to wait until the LED goes out before recharging. A circuit within
the charger prevents overcharging by automatically switching to a trickle
charge whenever the pack becomes fully charged.
Recharge the battery pack by first turning OFF the pack and connecting
the charger that was supplied with the analyzer to the pack’s CHARGER
jack. Plug in the charger and allow the battery pack to charge a minimum
of 16 hours if the pack was completely discharged. The instrument may
be run indefinitely directly off of the recharger.
