5.3 FILTER/TRAP FILTER REPLACEMENT
The filter element within the panel mounted filter/trap should be re-
placed whenever it appears clogged, or becomes a restriction in the
sampling system. Water soaked filters can be air dried, and do not neces-
sarily require replacement.
Equipment Needed (See Section 6 for Part Numbers)
• Replacement Filter
Procedure
1. If the analyzer’s pump is running, stop the pump by pressing the RUN
key. Then wait 10 seconds before removing the filter/trap assembly to
allow the pressure within the assembly to equalize.
2. Remove filter/trap from control panel.
WARNING!
Water inside the filter/trap may be hot and mildly acidic. Take
the necessary precautions to avoid being burned.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use solvents to clean the filter/trap’s plastic bowl, as
they can attack plastic and damage the bowl.
3. See Fig. 5-3. Unscrew and empty the bowl. If the bowl appears dirty, it
may be washed in a soap and water solution.
4. Unscrew the filter retainer. The filter element and its clear plastic
shield will come off with the retainer. Discard old filter element.
5. Install a new filter element and reassemble the filter/trap assembly.
