5.5 LEAK TESTING
After cleaning and reassembling the probe, it is good practice to ensure
that no leaks have developed. A leak can draw air into the system, thus
increasing the O
2
indications for flue gases and diluting the flue gases for
CO, NO
X
and SO
2
measurements. A leak will also cause a lower than
actual efficiency computation.
Equipment Needed
• Soap and Water Solution • Small Brush
Procedure
1. Remove control panel (refer to Section 4.1) and place it on a clean
work surface.
2. Reverse tubing connections at pump (see Fig. 5-5).
3. Seal end of probe so that it’s air tight.
4. Turn on analyzer; then press CAL key.
5. Brush soapy water over the now pressurized connections of the probe
assembly. If necessary, disassemble the probe and repair any leaks
found.
6. Turn off analyzer; restore original tubing connections at pump; then
reinstall control panel.
