Baumgärtel holds degrees in Fine Art and Psychology. He has worked all over the world in controversial locations and at major events, such as the documenta 9 in Kassel and celebrations marking German reunification. His spray-painted, stenciled bananas can be found at the entrances of around 4,000 art museums and galleries in cities around the world.
