Appendix A: Vehicle Installation Guide
74
In cases of undesirable voltage transients or brown-outs, your K530 is
designed to handle large voltage swings from 9V to 32V. However, for
optimal use and proper protection of your K530, it is necessary to
regulate the input voltage before feeding it to the power input of your
K530.
There are two ways to regulate electrical voltage. One way is to
implement a power management block that harnesses battery power
during engine startup. The other, more effective, way is to implement a
power management block with filters that further smooth out residual
spikes.
Installation
General Guidelines
Follow these guidelines for optimal installation of your K530 in a vehicle:
Place the router as close as possible to the voltage regulators, such
as power management block and filters. Use short power cables to
keep the distance short between the router and the output
connectors of the voltage regulators.
