Installation Manual Hardware Installation Components The PresencePLUS Pro system consists of a PC with PresencePLUS Pro software installed, a camera, and a trigger device connected to the controller. An optional video monitor and light source can also be connected to the controller.
Hardware Installation PresencePLUS® Pro Connecting Cables The following illustration show s cable connections for the controller. For information about connecting the trigger device, power supply, and other I/O, see Controller Terminal Block on page 13.
Installation Manual Hardware Installation Mounting the Controller Mount the controller to a Banner controller mounting bracket (See Mounting Brackets on page 35) or to a flat surface using its four mounting flanges, as shown below. Allow a minimum of 75 mm (3") of clearance for cable bend relief. The following mounting hardware is supplied with the controller: • Four M5 x 0.8 x 14 mm socket head cap screws • Four M5 x 0.
Hardware Installation PresencePLUS® Pro Mounting the Camera Use only Banner Camera Model PPCAM with the controller. For dimension details, see Camera Dimensions on page 30. Mount the camera to a Banner camera mounting bracket or to a flat surface. The camera has six M3 threads (two on the top and two on each side) and one 1/4–20 UNC thread on its base. Cable Bend Relief If using a straight cable, allow at least 75 mm (3") clearance at the rear of the camera for cable bend relief.
Installation Manual Hardware Installation NOTE: For additional stability, use the long U-bracket when the LEDRR80x80W (LED Ring Light) is attached to the camera, as shown at left.
Hardware Installation PresencePLUS® Pro Mounting the Light Source The light source must be securely mounted. Any movement in the light source during an inspection could affect inspection performance. Installing the Camera Lens These instructions are for Banner Lens Models LCF08, LCF12, and LCF16. Remove any protective caps from the camera and lens. Turn the metal lens base clockwise to thread the lens onto the camera. The plastic lens shroud is used for focusing; do not turn it when installing the lens.
Installation Manual Controller Terminal Block Controller Terminal Block The controller provides a pluggable, 20-pin terminal block. In addition to the trigger input and power supply, the terminal block accommodates a variety of I/O configurations. The illustration below shows the terminal block pin-out. NOTE: Before working with the terminal block or connecting to power, read Warnings and Cautions on page 5.
Controller Terminal Block PresencePLUS® Pro Supply Voltage, Pins 1 and 2 The controller requires a 10 to 30V dc power supply with a maximum current of 1.5 amps. NOTE: When connecting a light source to the controller, verify that the voltage used is compatible with the voltage requirements of the light source. • Connect pin 1 to +V • Connect pin 2 to –V Trigger, Pin 3 • Input from an external triggering device is needed to signal the camera to acquire images.
Installation Manual Controller Terminal Block Strobe Out, Pin 4 When enabled, the system generates a strobed output signal upon the receipt of a valid trigger.
Controller Terminal Block PresencePLUS® Pro Programmable I/O, Pins 9–14 The terminal block provides six discrete programmable I/O connections.
Installation Manual Controller Terminal Block Product Change Specifications State Current Sinking (NPN) Current Sourcing (PNP) ON < 2 volts at 1 milliamp max. > 8 volts at –7.5 milliamps max.
