SWITCHING OFF THE BARBECUE
• Closethegascylindervalve
• Turnallcontrolknobsoftheburners
to ‘OFF’.
Ifyoufollowtheaboveorder,therewillbe
no more pressurized gas in the system.
USEFUL TIPS FOR USE OF THE
BARBECUE
USING YOUR BRAHMA FOR THE FIRST
TIME
When using your gas barbecue for the first
time,youmustfirstallowtheunittorunin
by operating it for a short period of time
withoutanyfood.Toruninthebarbe-
cue, light the barbecue. Close the lid and
maintain the temperature at ‘HIGH’ for
15 minutes. Do not open the lid during
this procedure. You then open the lid and
allowthebarbecuetooperateforanother
5minutesat‘HIGH’.Thebarbecueisnow
ready for use.
WARMING UP THE BARBECUE
Allowthebarbecuetowarmupbeforeplac-
ing any food on it. Close the lid and heat
the cooking surface for at least 10 minutes
in the setting ‘HIGH’.Tobakeatalower
temperature than the setting ‘HIGH’, turn
the control knobs to the required position
before placing any food on the barbecue.
COOKING TIME
The actual cooking time depends on vari-
ous factors such as taste, outside tempera-
tureandwind.Experiencewillteachyou
howtoestimatethistime.
KEEPING FLARE-UPS UNDER
CONTROL
During barbecuing, some flare-ups are
natural.Toomanyflare-ups,however,will
increase the temperature in the barbecue,
thereby causing accumulated fat to ignite
and cause fire.
To reduce flare-ups:
• Removeexcessfatfromthemeat
before baking
• Bakefatmeatatalowsetting
• Checkthattheholeinfrontofthefat
drain is not blocked and the fat drip
cup is not full
• Bakewithclosedlidtocutofftheair
supplyandlowertheheatsettings
NOTE: If the lid is closed, your barbecue
willretainamoreconstanttemperature
andfoodcanbebakedfasterandwithless
energy.
Shouldtheburner(s)gooutduringbaking,
openthelid,turnofftheburner(s)andwait
5minutestoallowthegastoescapebefore
relighting the burner.
HOW TO PREVENT FOOD FROM
STICKING TO THE GRID
• Rubfoodlightlywithoilbeforeyou
place it on the grid
• Orbrushthegridwithsomecooking
oil to prevent food from sticking
• Donotturnfoodtooquicklyafter
placing it on the grid
WARNING:
• Neverleaveyourbarbecueunat-
tendedwheninuse,especiallyin
the presence of children or domestic
animals. Regularly check the barbe-
cue for proper functioning of all its
components
• Thisapplianceisonlyintended
for outdoor use. Accessible parts
can become very hot. Keep young
childrenandanimalsawayfromthe
appliance. Read the manual before
using this applance. During use,
keeptheaplianceawayfrominflam-
mable materials do not move during
use. Shut off the gas suppply from
the gas cylinder after use. Do not
alter or modify this appliance

TIPS FOR CLEANING AND
MAINTENANCE
To prolong the life of your appliance, it
should be cleaned carefully after every use.
BURNING OFF RESIDUES
After use, you can let your appliance burn,
emptyoffoodandwiththecoverclosed,
forafurthertenminuteswithalltheburners
turned to HIGH. This ensures that a large
proportionofanyresidueswillbeburntoff,
making subsequent cleaning easier. Let the
appliancecooldown.
You can then remove the burnt residues
withanon-abrasivebrushandclean.
GRILLS AND GRIDDLES
Aftereveryuse,letthebarbecuecooldown
andcleanthegrillswithanon-abrasive
brush.Grillscanalsobewashedwiththe
special ‘Barbecook® all cleaner’, a soft
detergent or sodium bicarbonate. Do not
use oven cleaners.
To prolong the life of your appliance, you
should carry out all the activities listed be-
low,preferablyatthestartofthebarbecue
season.
BURNERS AND VENTURI TUBES
IMPORTANT
Natural hazards - spiders and insects:
very small insects might make a web
or nest in the venturi tubes of the gas
burners (fig. E).

This will partly or completely block the
gas supply. A smoking yellow flame, or
a burner which is difficult or impossible
to ignite, are indications that this tube
is blocked. The gas may end up burning
outside the venturi tube and severely
damage your appliance. If this happens,
shut off the gas cylinder at once.
Cleaning the venturi tubes/burners
The burners and venturi tubes must be
removedforcleaningatleasttwiceayear.
• Removetheburnersasshowninfig.F.
• Cleantheventuritubesthoroughly.Clear
anyblockedopeningwithapipecleaner
orbrush(e.g.anunfoldedpaperclip).
• Replacetheburnerinaccordancewith
theinstructions(fig.F).Aftercleaning,
the venturi tubes must be replaced prop-
erly on the gas valves.
• Iftheburnerissplit,ordisplaysunu-
sual holes or other damage, it must be
replaced.
