- Application
- The YBA-652-2 valve packing cartridge kit is used for the replacement of the valve packing on 2-1/2” to 6” VB-8xx3 and VB-9xxx screwed and flanged globe valves.
- Inspect the package for damage. If damaged, notify the appropriate carrier immediately. Inspect the kit for obvious damage due to shipping. Return damaged kit.

- 1. Once system is depressurized, remove and discard old packing cartridge (internal parts are not interchangeable).
- 2. Clean valve stem as needed. Polish very smooth. Replace stem if scratched. See TAC Maintenance Parts, F-26033, for appropriate RYB valve repair kit
- 3. Apply Teflon pipe sealant (Loctite #592-41 or equivalent) to the bottom threads of the new cartridge.
- 4. Thread the packing cartridge into the valve body, torque to 60 ft-lb (81.6 Nm).
- 5. Tighten packing nut firmly until it bottoms.

Installation Instructions
INSTALLATION
Required Installation Items
Appropriate crescent wrench
Danger: If the packing cartridge or nut are loosened or
removed while there is water or steam pressure inside the
valve and piping, the valve packing may blow out with
potential of bodily injury and/or water or steam damage.
Before the packing is loosened or removed, isolate the valve
body using shutoff valves (if provided in the piping system)
and depressurize system to zero gauge (0 psig) at the valve
body. Carefully drain fluid from the isolated, depressurized
part of the system.

1. Once system is depressurized, remove and discard old
packing cartridge (internal parts are not interchangeable).
2. Clean valve stem as needed. Polish very smooth.

3. Apply Teflon pipe sealant (Loctite #592-41 or equivalent)
to the bottom threads of the new cartridge.
Note: Packing nut (see Figure-1) must be threaded only
one turn into cartridge before sliding over valve stem.
4. Thread the packing cartridge into the valve body, torque
to 60 ft-lb (81.6 Nm).
5. Tighten packing nut firmly until it bottoms.
