associated with your B&N account. The same is true if someone else purchased the NOOK online,
was signed in, and did not designate the
NOOK as a gift—it will be associated with his/her account.
If the account association is wrong, you can de-register and re-register the
NOOK.
When purchasing a
NOOK on the BN.com website, you can designate it as a gift (or not):
• A
NOOK that is not a gift is pre-registered (it is associated with your account).
• A
NOOK that is a gift is not pre-registered (it is not associated with your account).
You can also purchase
NOOKs in selected B&N stores. These NOOKs are not pre-registered, but
you can register your
NOOK immediately after purchasing it.
Manual Registration
This section explains how to register a NOOK that is not pre-registered. You also use these
procedures to re-register a
NOOK that has been unregistered.
Your
NOOK leads you through the welcome pages that include registration the first time you turn it
on.
To register your NOOK (Wi-Fi + 3G model) using the welcome pages, you must be in the
United States in an area with B&N Fast & Free Wireless, in a Barnes & Noble Bookstore in
the United States, or at an AT&T hotspot in the United States. Alternatively, tap Register
later and register after connecting to any Wi-Fi hotspot.
To register your
NOOK Wi-Fi using the welcome pages, you can be in a Barnes & Noble
Bookstore in the United States, at an AT&T hotspot in the United States, or you can
connect to any other Wi-Fi hotspot.
You can register either nook model later from Settings if the abovementioned circumstances are
true, as well as after connecting to any Wi-Fi hotspot.
The information you need during registration is:
• BN.com account email address
• BN.com account password
If your
NOOK informs you that your account information is not valid, double check the information
you entered. You might have mistyped something.
To register your
NOOK (Wi-Fi + 3G model):
