Registering Your NOOKcolor
NOTE: You will need to connect to connect to a Wi-Fi network to complete your registration.
1. Watch the Introductory Video.
The first time you turn on your NOOKcolor, it will show a 90-second video that gives you a quick tour of
the main features of your NOOKcolor. Tap the white triangular play button on the video to start it playing.
2. Read and Accept the Terms of Service.
When the video has finished, your NOOKcolor displays its Terms of Service. Read the terms. To accept
them, tap the Accept button. (If you do not accept the Terms of Service, you will not be able to use your
NOOKcolor.)
3. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
To register your NOOKcolor and to purchase and download books and periodicals, you need to be con-
nected to a Wi-Fi network. If you’re in a Barnes & Noble store, your NOOKcolor will automatically open a
dialog box, oering you the option of connecting to the store’s Wi-Fi network. If you’re in some other loca-
tion with Wi-Fi access, your NOOKcolor will list all the networks it finds. Tap on the name of the network
you want to connect to. If you see a lock symbol beside the network’s name, it’s a secure network. You’ll
need to enter a password to connect to the network. If you do not know the network password, ask for the
network administrator for help.
4. Select your Time Zone.
As soon as you have connected to a Wi-Fi network, your NOOKcolor displays a list of time zones. Scroll
through the list and tap on the time zone you’re in (for example, Eastern Standard Time). Then tap Next.
5. Register your NOOKcolor.
When you register your NOOKcolor, you link it to your Barnes & Noble account and give it access all the
eBooks and periodicals in your Barnes & Noble library. You also make it possible to shop for new eBooks
and periodicals on your NOOKcolor.
If you already have a Barnes & Noble account, do this:
a. Tap the Sign In button.
b. Enter the email address and password for your account.
c. Tap Submit.
If you do not already have a Barnes & Noble account, do this:
a. Tap the Create an Account button.
b. Fill in the form with your name, password, security question, and so on.
c. Tap Submit.
That’s it. You’ve registered your NOOKcolor.
You’re ready to read books, magazines, and newspapers, and to shop in the NOOK store.

you turn on your NOOKcolor.
