Opening DRM-protected Files
DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. DRM software protects books from being illegally copied, sold, or distrib-
uted.
Your NOOKcolor and the Barnes & Noble website automatically make sure that when you buy and download a
NOOKbook, the NOOKbook recognizes you as its legitimate owner and presents its contents for you to read on
your NOOKcolor.
In some rare cases, you might need to unlock a book or periodical that you have bought from Barnes & Noble. In this
case, you’ll need to enter the following information to unlock the book or periodical:
• Your name
• Your email address (the address associated with your BN.com account when you purchased the book or periodi-
cal)
• Your credit card number (the number of the card you used to purchase the book or periodical)
Jumping to the Furthest Page Read
If you’ve been reading this eBook or periodical on some other device (such as a desktop computer or phone) using a
Barnes & Noble digital eReader, and your NOOKcolor has access to the Internet through its Wi-Fi connection, then
when you open an eBook or periodical, your NOOKcolor will compare the last page you read on the NOOKcolor to
the last page you read on any other device.
If you have read further on the other device, your NOOKcolor displays a dialog box asking you if you would like to
jump to the furthest page you’ve read, even if you haven’t read that page on your NOOKcolor.
To jump to the furthest page, tap the Go button.
To remain on the current page, which is the page you read most recently on your NOOKcolor, tap the Cancel but-
ton.
Using Bookmarks
Adding a Bookmark
A bookmark marks a location in a book. In a printed book, a bookmark helps you find the page where you left o
reading.
You can set bookmarks in books to make it easy to jump to a location. You can set as many bookmarks as you like in
a book.
To set a bookmark on the page you are reading, do this:
1. Tap in the upper right corner of the page.
A blue ribbon appears in the corner of the page, indicating that a bookmark has been placed.
