Organize and lay out your Barnline Vintage Lumber on a at
surface, such as a oor or large table. This should resemble
the way you would like them displayed on your surface. Many
options are possible such as vertical, horizontal, diagonal or
herringbone. Pick the planks so each row is the same width but
vary the order from row to row and piece length to compliment
the natural variation of the vintage wood.
Paint your surface a dark color to conceal any holes in your
lumber.
If fastening to a wall, mark your studs after painting, ensuring
fasteners penetrate into studs.
Remove any outlet or light switch covers. Measure and mark
where the covers will be on the lumber. Use a jig saw or coping
saw to cut out these areas so you can easily re-apply covers
after installation.
Install your rst row of lumber. This can be done in a horizontal,
vertical or diagonal (angled) fashion. If you are applying in a
horizontal orientation, use a level. If you are applying to the
surface in a diagonal (angled) orientation, place your rst row at
the angle you prefer.
Hold in place, fasten your lumber with nails. If placing on a wall,
use the marked studs as a reference of where to fasten.
Optional: If you choose to use wood glue or another form of
adhesive, apply directly to back side of your lumber before
placing and securing pieces to your surface.
