6.5 Comparing Base Reflectivity and Composite
Reflectivity
Base reflectivity shows the intensities at each of the elevation angles. In the following example,
base reflectivity 1-4 shows a small storm event very far off, but undershoots the closer storm.
The elevations for the four-base reflectivity NEXRAD products are also depicted.
