• Neverusetheproductneartoverycoldorveryhotobjects.

• Donotmeasureliquidscarryingalivevoltage.
• The plastic housing must not come into contact with water. Avoid using the
thermometerwithdamporwethands.
• Correctpolaritymustbeobservedwhileinsertingthebattery.
• Thebatteryshouldberemovedfromthedeviceifitisnotusedforalongperiodof
timetoavoiddamagethroughleaking.Leakingordamagedbatteriesmightcause
acidburnswhenincontactwithskin,thereforeusesuitableprotectiveglovesto
handlecorruptedbatteries.
• Batteries must be kept out ofreach of children. Do not leave batteries lying
around,asthereisariskthatchildrenorpetsmayswallowthem.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into re. Never
rechargenon-rechargeablebatteries.Thereisariskofexplosion!
• Consultanexpert whenin doubt aboutoperation, safetyor connectionof the
device.
• Maintenance,modicationsandrepairsaretobeperformedexclusivelybyan
expertorataqualiedshop.
• Ifyouhavequestionswhichremainunansweredbytheseoperatinginstructions,
contactourtechnicalsupportserviceorothertechnicalpersonnel.
Operation
a) Inserting/changing the batteries
• Youwillneedtoinsertabattery(notincluded)intotheproductwhenusingitforthersttime.
• Turnofftheprobethermometerusingthe

buttonbeforechangingthebattery.
• RemovethescrewonthebackofthehousingusingasuitablePhillipsscrewdriver.Carefully
separatethetwohalvesofthehousing.
• Carefullyremovetheusedbattery(ifapplicable).InsertanAG13batterywithcorrectpolarity
intothebatterycompartment(observeplus/+andminus/-).Thepositiveterminal(+)should
bepointingupwards.Caution!Insertingthebatteryinreversepolaritymaydestroythedevice.
• Carefullyreinsertthescrewtosecurethehousinginplace.
b) Changing the measuring unit (°C/°F)
• °C isselectedby defaultwhenthe probethermometer isturned on.Press the °C/°F to
changethetemperatureunit.
c) Measuring the temperature
Theproductmustbelefttoadjusttotheambienttemperatureforapproximately
30 minutes before use. Do not use the thermometer after sudden changes in
temperature. Only the tip of the temperature probe should be exposed to the
measuredobject.
• Removetheprotectivesleevefromthetemperatureprobe.
• Turnontheprobethermometerusingthe

button.Thethermometerisreadytouseafter
ashortself-test.
• Inserttheprobethermometerwiththetemperatureprobeintotheobjectthatyouwishto
measure.Thehousingmustnotbesubmergedintoliquids.Donotbendthetemperature
probeorforcefullyinsertitintoverysolidobjects,e.g.deep-frozenproducts.Thismaybreak
thetemperatureprobe.
• Leavethethermometertorestforashortwhileuntilthedisplaystabilizesandthenreadthe
temperature.
• L--isdisplayedifthemeasuredtemperatureislowerthan-40°C.H--isdisplayedifthe
measuredtemperatureishigherthan+250°C.Thetemperatureprobewillstayhotfora
whileaftermeasuringobjectswithahightemperature.Donottouchthetemperatureprobe
untilithascooleddown.
Donotexposethetemperatureprobetotemperaturesofover200°Cforprolonged
periods.Whenmeasuringsuchtemperatures,donotexposethetemperatureprobe
tothemeasuredobjectforlongerthan1minute.
• Onceyouhavenishedmeasuringthetemperature,removetheprobethermometerfromthe
measuredobjectandturnitoffusingthe

button.Carefullycleanthetemperatureprobe
afteruse!
• Aftercleaningthethermometer,insertitintotheprotectivesleeveandstoreitinasafeplace
untilyoutakethenexttemperaturemeasurement.
• Theprotectivesleevecanbeusedasaninsertstopformeasurementsinsolidobjects.Insert
thetemperatureprobeintothesideclipsothatitsclippedendispointingatthetipofthe
temperatureprobe.Adjusttheinsertdepthbymovingtheinsertstoponthetemperature
probe.
d) Minimum and maximum temperature memory
• Whenyoumeasurethetemperatureofanobject,thelowestandhighesttemperatureswillbe
savedautomatically.Youcanviewtheminimumandmaximumtemperaturesbypressingthe
HOLDbutton.Proceedasfollows:
• PresstheHOLDbuttononce.Thecurrenttemperaturewillremainonthedisplayandthe
HOLDsymbolwillbedisplayed.

solids,e.g.foodanddrink.Theminimumandmaximumtemperaturescanbedisplayedonthe
LCDdisplay.Thetemperatureunitcanbeswitchedbetween°Celsiusand°Fahrenheit.The
thermometerisnotdesignedtobeusedonpeopleandanimals,e.g.asaclinicalthermometer.
Theprobethermometerispoweredbybatteryandrequiresa1.5VAG13battery.
Forsafetyandapprovalpurposes(CE),youmustnotrebuildand/ormodifythisproduct.Ifyou
