Environmental note Note: Before discarding an old appliance, switch off and disconnect it from the power supply. Cut off and render any plug useless. Cut the cable off directly behind the appliance to prevent misuse. This should be undertaken by a competent person. Disable the door lock to make sure that children cannot get stuck inside the appliance.

Child safety o Packaging material should be kept away from children. o Children should not be allowed to touch the controls or play with the appliance. General safety o Do not pull on the power supply cable to remove the plug from your mains supply socket. o Do not pull out or insert the plug with wet hands. o Do not attempt to use your appliance outdoors or any place where it is likely to come into contact with the elements.

IMPORTANT: When you install your appliance it is important to bear in mind its climatic rating. In order to find out the climatic rating of your appliance, you should check the rating plate. The rating plate is located on inside the fridge section, behind the salad crisper drawer. You will need to open the fridge door of your appliance to be able to find it. The rating plate will indicate the ambient temperature range that your appliance will function correctly within. Description of the BRB2617.
Description of the product features Safety glass shelves o The shelves may be placed in any of the guide slots within the interior of the appliance. They are protected from sliding out. o To remove a shelf: Take off all of the items that are stored on the shelf that you want to remove. Then lift the front of the shelf and carefully pull it out of the grooves. Salad crisper drawer and cover o The crisper drawer is in the bottom of your refrigerator and there is a cover that goes over it.
Using your Baumatic combi fridge freezer Before switching on o Make sure that it has been installed by a suitably qualified person, as per the information contained in Baumatic’s installation instructions. o After delivery, wait for eight hours before connecting the appliance to your mains supply. This will allow any refrigerant gasses that may have been disturbed during the transportation process to settle.
Switching on the appliance and setting the thermostat You switch on your appliance by connecting it to your mains supply and pressing the power button for 3 seconds. The thermostat dials are also located on the control panel, which can be found at the top of the fridge-freezer. IMPORTANT: The fridge and freezer sections are controlled independently and have separate temperature control dials.
Super Cool mode This setting should be used if you want to cool something quickly, it will ensure that a powerful supply of cold air enters the fridge section. o Select the Super thermostat dial. Cool indicator (‘S.Cool’) on the fridge o Super Cool mode will continue to run until manually turned off by selecting a normal temperature range on the thermostat dial.
Arranging and storing food in the fridge section o Warm food or evaporating liquids should not be stored in your refrigerator, as this will increase the humidity inside of the appliance. o All foods should be wrapped or covered, this is particularly important if the food has a strong flavour. You should use polythene bags or sheets, aluminium foil, wax paper. Liquids should be stored in covered containers or bottles.
o Milk bottles should have a cap on them and be stored on the bottle shelf that sits in the door. o Garlic, potatoes, onions and bananas should only be stored in a refrigerator IF they are stored in airtight containers. The freezer compartment The freezer compartment is suitable for storing and freezing food. o The freezer compartment temperature must have already reached -18 degrees centigrade (or lower) before you attempt to store food that is already frozen or freezing fresh food.
o Fresh food should be packed into airtight containers or packaging. This will help to make sure that the food doesn’t dry out or lose its flavour. It will also ensure that flavour does not transfer from other foods. o After 24 hours you should check that the fresh food is satisfactorily frozen. If it is then the thermostat dial should be turned back to its normal operating position.
Freezing using the Super Freeze setting This setting should be used if you are freezing fresh food, it will ensure that a powerful supply of cold air enters the freezer compartment, ensuring that the food is frozen quickly. o If you are freezing the maximum amount of fresh food that can be frozen in a 24 hour period (10Kg), then it should be switched on a few hours prior to freezing. o If you are freezing a smaller quantity of fresh food, then it should be switched on 1 hour prior to freezing.
Cleaning and Maintenance: o Occasionally clean the condenser coils (if present) at the back of the appliance to maintain a high performance level. o Clean the door gasket with warm water or a neutral detergent that leaves no residue. A tight-sealing door gasket is critical to the efficiency of your appliance. Usage: o Do not open the door repeatedly or more frequently than you have to. o Do not set the thermostat too low. A change of just one degree can effect the energy consumption by 5%.
Cleaning and maintenance WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN IT. o Do not clean the appliance by pouring water onto it or spraying water over it. o The refrigerator and freezer compartment should be cleaned periodically, using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water. o Clean the accessories separately with soap and water. Do not clean them in a dishwasher. o Do not use abrasive products, detergents or soaps.
Defrosting the freezer compartment Your appliance is frost free, so you will not need to manually defrost the freezer section. However if for example the door is left open for a prolonged period of time or the door gasket is not sealing correctly, then you could get ice building in the freezer section. If this occurs, then you should follow the steps below and perform a manual defrost. o The day before you defrost, you should turn the thermostat dial to its maximum setting.
o Once the 24 hour period has elapsed, you should return the thermostat dial to its normal operating position. o Do not defrost the appliance with other electrical devices (e.g. hair dryer). Do not use sharp metal objects to remove the ice on the freezer, as this could cause damage to the refrigerant system. Replacing the light bulb WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB.
Installation IMPORTANT: Before installation and usage read all the instructions and make sure that the voltage (V) and the frequency (Hz) indicated on the rating plate are exactly the same as the voltage and frequency in your home. The rating plate can be found inside the refrigerator, behind the salad crisper.
Positioning o It is advisable that your appliance is only installed in a location where the ambient temperature of the room, corresponds with the climate classification that is stated on the rating plate of your appliance. Your appliance may not function correctly if the ambient temperature falls outside of the following ranges.
Note: This diagram is for reference only. The following procedure must be followed for both of the appliance doors. o Slacken the retaining screws (1) on the appliance and then carefully remove the appliance door. o Place the appliance door on a cushioned surface, so that damage does not occur to it. o Lever off the cover caps (3). o Insert the retaining screws (1) into the opposite side of the appliance from their original position. These screws should be partially tightened but not fully tightened.
o Reattach the appliance door and then fully re-tighten the retaining screws (1) and the door retaining screws (2). o Insert the cover caps (3) into the holes that are now exposed on the right hand side of the cabinet. IMPORTANT: Check that the door opens and shuts correctly, without fouling, after you have completed the door reversal process. After the door has been reversed, you should check the door seal of the appliance.
Installing your fridge-freezer o Below are aperture dimensions for your product. You need to ensure you leave the ventilation spaces indicated in the diagram. o Ensure there is a sufficient space behind the cooling coils at the back of your fridge to allow air to circulate. IMPORTANT: The appliance aperture MUST have a minimum of 200 cm² free air flow for ventilation. o If necessary, you should utilise extra filler shelves to fill any additional space that you have in the aperture.
Installation preparation o Start by attaching the top securing brackets (x2) to both sides of the top of the appliance, using the screws provided. o Attach the top décor strip to the top of the appliance, ensuring that the prongs insert through the guide slots on the top of the appliance.
o o Remove the screw-hole covers on the left side of the appliance. o Attach the side bracket using the screws provided. o Attach the positioning bracket to the end of the side bracket. Attach the filler strip to each side of the appliance.
Installation You can now move the appliance into position within the cabinet aperture, ensuring that the ventilation requirements are met. After removing the rear wall of the cabinet, push the appliance into the kitchen unit’s space. o o Position the appliance so that the front edge of the cabinet rests against the positioning bracket, as shown in the picture above. o You can now secure the appliance to the cabinet using the screws provided. Start with the left side bracket (above).
o Secure the top of the appliance to the cabinet ceiling using the screws provided. o You can now push the top securing bracket back so that it is flush with the top of the appliance.
Installing the upper cupboard door o Remove the plastic fix plate cover. o Remove the locking nuts on the upper fix plate, and remove the upper fix plate (see figure below). IMPORTANT: DO NOT REMOVE THE DOOR SENSOR WHEN REMOVING THE UPPER FIX PLATE.
o Turn over the upper cupboard door and place it on a cushioned surface. o Draw a vertical line down the centre of the back of the cupboard door (as shown in the diagram opposite). o Position the upper fix plate 775mm from the bottom of the cupboard door and centre. o Secure the fixing plate using the screws provided.
Adjusting the cabinet door o o The nuts and screws on the top of the fridge door that secure to the fixing plate (cabinet door) are adjustable. Once hanging, you can adjust the level and centre of the door. The bolts which the door/fixing plate hang on will adjust approximately 5mm. Using an appropriate tool: o Twist the height adjustment screw to allow for about 5mm movement in height. o Loosen the horizontal adjustment nut to allow for about 5mm movement in width. Retighten the nut once in place.
Attaching the lower fixings o Loosen the bracket screws on the bottom of the fridge door and move them until they fit against the cupboard door. o There will be a gap of a few millimetres between the fridge door and the cupboard door, and it should be parallel with the appliance door from top to bottom. IMPORTANT: Ensure the doors are parallel with each other. o The bottom of the cabinet door is aligned by slightly loosening the fixing screws and adjusting the position of the fixing brackets.
Complete door installation o Fasten the fix plate cover into the top of the door as shown in the diagram opposite. * Repeat the process for the bottom door of the appliance. o Attach the bracket, hinge, fix plate and lower bracket covers.
Troubleshooting IMPORTANT: If your fridge freezer appears not to be operating properly, before contacting the Baumatic Customer Care Department, please refer to the checklist below. My fridge freezer does not appear to be working/there is no power to my appliance. o Check that the plug is fully inserted into the power socket. o Check that there is power to your mains supply (e.g. that there hasn’t been a power cut or that the fuse hasn’t blown).
Ice has formed on the inner back wall of my fridge o Check that food has not been pushed too far back inside the appliance, so that it is in contact with the inner back wall. o IMPORTANT: It is normal to get some ice droplets forming on the back wall of the appliance. The formation of ice droplets does not indicate an appliance fault. My fridge is beeping (alarm) o Check that the doors are closed properly and that all door seals are flush. Please see the “Open door warning alarm” section.
