Engine
Read the engine operation and maintenance manuals before starting or doing any maintenance on the engine OR
engines.
Bilge Blower System
The bilge blower removes explosive
fumes from the engine and bilge areas.
Fresh air is drawn into the engine and
bilge areas through the vents.
To make sure the engine and bilge
areas are properly ventilated:
Use the "sniff test" to check the engine
and bilge areas for fuel vapors before
starting the engine.
Always run the bilge blower for at least
four minutes before starting the engine.
Continue to run the blower until your
boat has reached cruising speed.
Always run the blower when running the
boat below cruising speed.
FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD
Use of the bilge blower system is NOT A GUARANTEE that explosive fumes have
been removed.
BEFORE starting the engine ALWAYS use the "sniff test" to check the engine and bilge
areas for fuel vapors.
If you smell fuel, do NOT start the engine and do NOT turn On any electrical devices.
If you smell fuel and the engine is already running, shut Off the engine and turn Off all elec-
trical devices. Investigate immediately.
Do NOT obstruct or modify the bilge blower system.
