BBK 1.5/1.6/1.8L Honda/Acura
Performance Throttle Bodies
Part # 1545, 1546, 1547
INS-062
Step 1
Raise hood and check the throttle position sensor (TPS) voltage with the ignition key in the “on” position without
starting the engine. (This must be done with a digital voltmeter to ensure accuracy.) Write this voltage number
as a reference to after installation (should be approximately .5 to 1.0 volts) then disconnect the negative
battery terminal.
Step 2
Be sure motor is completely cool before proceeding to avoid burns, etc. from hot engine coolant.
Step 3
Remove air filter duct, all vacuum hoses, water (coolant) hoses and electrical connectors from the stock
throttle body.
NOTE
Engine coolant may run from the hoses once removed.
Step 4
Disconnect the throttle cable from the linkage by holding at wide-open position to allow enough cable slack to slip
the cable through the small groove in the linkage.
Step 5
Remove the four (4) nuts attaching the throttle body to the intake manifold and remove the unit from the vehicle.
Step 6
If the stock throttle body has a bypass valve bolted to the bottom (3 bolts) it must be removed and reinstalled on
the BBK throttle body using the stock hardware.
Step 7
If the stock unit has map sensor mounted on the topside (2 screws) it must be removed and reinstalled on BBK
unit with stock hardware and supplied gasket. If not then the chrome block off plate must be installed in this
location using the supplied hardware and gasket.
Step 8
In order to remove the TPS from the stock unit carefully grind or file away the heads of the rivets.
Step 9
Reinstall the TPS using the supplied hardware.
Step 10
Using the supplied base gasket and the stock mounting hardware the BBK throttle body may be installed onto the
intake manifold using the factory torque specifications.
Step 11
Reattach the hoses, electrical connector’s, etc. to their appropriate locations making sure all clamps, etc. are tight.
Step 12
Any unused vacuum ports on the BBK throttle body must be plugged.
Step 13
Reconnect the negative battery terminal, then with the ignition key in the “on” position without the engine running
you can adjust the TPS to the stock voltage by slightly loosening the mounting screws and rotating the TPS to the
desired voltage, then retighten the mounting screws.
Step 14
Start vehicle and check for loose connections or coolant leaks, etc.
Step 15
After vehicle is warmed up entirely, check the idle speed, if it is too low it may be adjusted up slightly by
turning the bypass screw (gold colored screw at 12 o’clock position to the left of the vacuum tube) CCW with a
flat blade screwdriver.
NOTE
On Part # 1547 70mm throttle body some intake modification
is required for mounting on Honda 1.5/1.6 L models.
