Deck Belt Retainers

There are 8 main deck retainers.

 6 “J” shaped retainers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

 2 idle pulley retainers (7)

 To adjust the retainers, loosen the top nut slightly and rotate the retainer

into place. After adjusting hold the retainer in place and tighten the nut.

Deck Belt

It is recommended to do a quick visual inspection of the

deck belt retainers at the same interval as inspecting the

deck belt tension. This check should be performed every

8 hours. The engine pulley retainer should be inspected

when replacing the deck belt, or if the belt is slipping off

the engine pulley.

 Serial #s beginning with 54ZB10XXX

use a MXV5 1430 V Belt.

 All other serial #s use a MXV5 1480

V Belt.

62ZB

 Serial #s beginning with 62ZB10XXX

use a MXV5 1630 V Belt.

 All other serial #s use a MXV5 1680

DANGER

DANGER: Before making any adjustments or servicing

your mower, make sure the mower is on level ground, the

blades are disengaged, the brake set, the key is removed,

the engine is off and the spark plug wires are disconnected

from the spark plugs to prevent inadvertent starting. If

maintenance or adjustments are being performed after

operation of the mower, allow the unit to cool since heat

build up could cause severe burns.
