Duration of
insulin action
The length of time that certain types of insulin
remain active and available in your body after
an insulin dose is given. This duration can vary
greatly depending on the type of insulin you
take.
Emergency kit
A kit which contains: 1-2 sealed IDDs, batteries
for the Remotes, a vial of U-100 insulin, syringes
used for injecting insulin, instructions for insulin
dose replacement from your Healthcare Provider,
blood glucose testing supplies, glucose tablets or
another fast-acting carbohydrate, alcohol prep
swabs, HCP contact information.
Expiry
The end of a fixed period of time.
Fat
One of the three main nutrients in food. Excess
calories are stored as body fat, providing the
body with a reserve supply of energy and other
functions.
Filling needle
Used to fill the IDD with insulin.
Filling syringe
Used to fill the IDD with insulin.
Food dose
Insulin that is taken before you eat.
Glucose
Another term for sugar, most commonly found
in carbohydrates.
