CONCRETE & MASONRY PROTECTOR & WATERPROOFER
NO. 980
PRODUCT INFORMATION
BEHR PREMIUM® Concrete & Masonry Protector & Waterproofer is a premium, interior/exterior, waterproong formula that
uses a water-based, silicone technology designed to penetrate surfaces up to 1/2". This waterproofer creates a barrier inside
the surface that keeps water out, but lets trapped water vapors escape; reducing corrosion, spalling, eorescence and freeze-
thaw damage. It reduces staining due to mold and mildew, and ensures greater durability of the surface. The protection is not
worn away with normal use and continues long after the water beading is gone.
RECOMMENDED USES:
Above grade properly prepared interior or exterior, vertical or horizontal porous unnished concrete, stone and tile surfaces,
such as:
• Concrete • Concrete Aggregate • Unglazed Tile
• Brick • Natural & Articial Stone • Stucco
Not recommended for use on areas subject to hydrostatic pressure such as basement walls or oors.

brush, roller or pump sprayer to a dry surface. Remove any
puddles by spreading product to drier areas or by wiping up
excess with a clean cloth. For vertical porous surfaces, apply

package consistency.
Dry Time: 75°F & 50% RH
Full Cure: 24 – 48 Hours
Longer dry time may be required in cooler temperatures and
higher humidity.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces must be clean, free of dust, chalk, oil, grease,
wax, polish, mold and mildew stains, loose and peeling
paint, rust, and all other foreign substances.
New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days. Use a
paint stripper to remove any previous coatings or sealers.
Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic
acid etcher (read and follow all manufacturers label
directions) to achieve a textured prole similar to 150 grit
sandpaper. Test: Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the
surface. If water is quickly absorbed and the surface feels
like 150 grit sandpaper, the surface is ready. If not, re-etch.
Follow all manufacturers label instructions
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD
ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator
to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, nd out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National
Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.
CLEAN-UP/DISPOSAL:
Clean all tools and equipment with warm, soapy water. Do
not dispose of this product down a drain. If spilled, contain
material and remove with an inert absorbent. Dispose of
contaminated absorbent, container and unused product
in accordance with all current federal, state and local
regulations. For recycling or disposal of empty containers,
unused product and soiled rags, contact your household
refuse collection service.
CAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS:
Protect from freezing.
Can be applied over high pH (up to13) concrete and
masonry surfaces.
Do not apply on coated, dense or previously sealed oors.
For best results, apply when air, material and surface
temperatures are between 50°F and 90°F. Temperatures
above 90°F can cause the coating to dry too fast. Avoid
applying in direct sun. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the
touch it should be considered too hot to apply this coating.
Allow 30 days before washing or cleaning for full cure.
Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
CAUTION IRRITANT MAY CAUSE EYE, NOSE AND
THROAT IRRITATION. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES
AND AVOID BREATHING OF VAPORS AND SPRAY MIST.
WEAR EYE PROTECTION AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. USE
ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. To avoid breathing
vapors and spray mist, open windows an doors or use
other means to ensure fresh air entry during application
and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches
or dizziness, increase fresh air. If properly used, a
respirator (NIOSH approved for organic vapor with P series
particulate pre-lter) may oer additional protection;
obtain professional advice before using. A dust mask does
not provide protection against vapors. Avoid contact with
eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Close
container after each use.
FIRST AID: If you experience diculty in breathing,
leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued diculty is
experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of
eye contact, ush immediately with plenty of water for at
least 20 minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash
thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, get medical
attention immediately.
CAUTION: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN – DO NOT
TAKE INTERNALLY.
