SURFACE PREPARATION:
The following steps and products are required: If you
use a product such as BEHR PREMIUM® Wood Stain & Finish
Stripper No. 64 to remove loose wood bers, latex, oil-based
and 100% acrylic coating on new or weathered wood, then
you must use BEHR PREMIUM® All-In-One Wood Cleaner
No. 63 to clean, brighten & neutralize wood. If you do not
use BEHR PREMIUM Wood Stain & Finish Stripper No. 64 as
described above, then use a product such as BEHR PREMIUM
All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63 to clean and brighten the
wood surface and to remove light to medium exterior stains
caused by mold, mildew, algae & fungus. Rinse thoroughly
and allow to dry before coating. On new wood, use a product
such as BEHR PREMIUM All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63 to
remove mill glaze and open the pores of the wood. Lightly
sand to remove remaining wood bers/fuzz.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD
ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator
to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, nd out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National
Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.
SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS:
Wood:
No primer needed on most woods. However, redwood,
cedar, cypress and other “bleeding” woods contain water
soluble extractives which may cause discoloration of white
and pastel colors. Therefore, prime the above type wood.
For Severe Tannin Bleed/Stainblocking:
BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® Exterior Multi-Surface Primer &
Sealer No. 436
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
Use a full coat or spot prime with BEHR PREMIUM PLUS
Exterior Multi-Surface Primer & Sealer No. 436 on
properly prepared surfaces.
CLEAN-UP/DISPOSAL:
Clean all tools and equipment with warm, soapy water. Do
not dispose of this product down a drain. If spilled, contain
material and remove with an inert absorbent. Dispose of
contaminated absorbent, container and unused product
in accordance with all current federal, state and local
regulations. For recycling or disposal of empty containers,
unused product and soiled rags, contact your household
refuse collection service.
CAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS:
Protect from freezing.
For best results, apply when air, material and surface
temperatures are between 40°F and 90°F. Avoid applying
stain in direct sunlight or to hot surfaces. Temperatures
above 90°F can cause the paint to dry too fast. Do not
apply if rain is expected within 24 hours of product
application.
Always test product on an inconspicuous area before
proceeding with entire project.
Over-application of BEHR® Solid Color House & Fence Stain
results in lm forming on the wood surface and therefore
subject to peeling and aking.
Shelf life under normal conditions is 2 years unopened.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
WARNING IRRITANT HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED.
CONTAINS: ETHYLENE GLYCOL. MAY CAUSE EYE, NOSE AND
THROAT IRRITATION. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES
AND AVOID BREATHING OF VAPORS AND SPRAY MIST. WEAR
EYE PROTECTION AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. USE ONLY WITH
ADEQUATE VENTILATION. To avoid breathing vapors and
spray mist, open windows and doors or use other means to
ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you
experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase
fresh air. If properly used, a respirator (NIOSH approved for
organic vapor with P series particulate pre-lter) may oer
additional protection; obtain professional advice before
using. A dust mask does not provide protection against
vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly
after handling. Close container after each use.
