Gain Setting It is very important to set each channel’s GAIN knob correctly in order to get the maximum amount of signal headroom and least amount of noise possible. Setting the GAIN too low could make that channel too quiet to mix properly, while setting it too high will cause clipping and distortion.
XENYX 1002B User Manual 4.2 Creating a monitor mix 5. Applications For live applications, audio engineers often send different mixes to the audience and to the performing musicians. To allow this, the 1002B is equipped with a dedicated monitor send bus. Each channel features a MON knob that sends a “pre-fader” signal to the MON OUT jack, allowing the channel’s volume fader to be adjusted without affecting the monitor mix. The signal can also be used as a second effects send.
