Installation CD-ROM does not start Setup Utility
IftheCD-ROMdoesnotstarttheSetupUtilityautomatically,it
couldbethatthecomputerisrunningotherapplicationsthatare
interferingwiththeCDdrive.
IftheSetupUtilityscreendoesnotappearwithin15-20seconds,
openupyourCD-ROMdrivebydouble-clickingonthe“My
Computer”icon.Next,double-clickontheCD-ROMdriveand
double-clickonthefoldernamed“Files”.Next,double-clickonthe
iconnamedStart.exe.
Power LED does not come ON; Adapter is not working
IftheLEDindicatorsarenotON,theproblemmaybethatthe
Adapterisnotconnectedorinstalledproperly.
VerifythattheAdapterispluggedfirmlyintotheUSBslotofyour
computer.ChecktoseethatthedriversfortheCardhavebeen
installed.Rightclickonthe“MyComputer”icononyourdesktop.
Choose“Properties”andnavigatetothe“DeviceManager”andsee
ifyourAdapterislistedwithoutanyerrors.Ifanerrorisindicated
contactBelkinTechnicalSupport.
Link LED is blinking slowly; Cannot connect to a wireless
network or the Internet
IfyourAdapterappearstobefunctioningproperly,butyoucannot
connecttoanetworkoryouhavearedwirelessiconatthebottom
ofyourscreen,theproblemmaybethatthereisamismatch
betweenthesettingsinyourwirelessnetworkproperties.
Checkthesettingstoseeiftheymatch.TheSSIDiscase-sensitive
andthespellingoneachcomputermustbeexactlythesamein
orderfortheAdaptertoconnecttothewirelessrouteroraccess
point.
Note:TochecktheAdaptersettingsorlookforanavailable
network,double-clicktheSignalIndicatoricontobringupthe
“WirelessMonitors”screen.Clickthe“APList”ifyoudonotsee
thenetworkyouaretryingtoconnecttoclickthe“refresh”button
toscanthe“air”forwirelessnetworks.

Ifyouhaveasignalbutcan’tgetonlineorobtainanIPaddress,
theproblemmaybethatamismatchbetweentheEncryptionkey
settingsinyourcomputerandrouter.
ChecktheWEPkeysettingstoseeiftheymatch.Thekeyis
case-sensitiveandthespellingoneachcomputerandrouter
mustbeexactlythesameinorderfortheAdaptertoconnect

Ifissuespersistevenatcloserange,pleasecontactplease

Data transfer is sometimes slow
WirelessTechnologyisradio-based,whichmeansconnectivity
andthethroughputperformancebetweendevicesdecreases
whenthedistancebetweendevicesincreases.Otherfactorsthat
willcausesignaldegradation(metalisgenerallytheworstculprit)
areobstructionssuchaswallsandmetalappliances.Asaresult,
thetypicalindoorrangeofyourwirelessdeviceswillbebetween
100to200feet.Notealsothatconnectionspeedmaydecrease
asyoumovefurtherfromthewirelessrouteroraccesspoint.
Inordertodetermineifwirelessissuesarerelatedtorange,
wesuggesttemporarilymovingthecomputer,ifpossible,to
fivetotenfromWirelessRouter.Pleaseseethesectiontitled
“PlacementofyourWirelessNetworkingHardwareforOptimal
Performance”onpage2ofthismanual.
