Connecting to your cable or satellite set-top box disable analog outputs like the ones @TV uses whenever an HDMI enabled device (like an HDTV) is connected to them; this is because that particular cable or satellite box manufacturer has chosen to enable advanced content protection protocols that are triggered by your TV/STB combination.

For instance, on some boxes going to channel 42 requires just that you enter 42 while on another you must enter 042 or 0042.
