Straight line segments along the flight plan path between
current position and the target are used.
If the target waypoint is an airport, the default target altitude
is set to the airport elevation plus 1000 feet.
The TOD is located along the flight plan path using the
distance along the flight plan path.
If the calculated TOD is ahead of the aircraft in the flight plan
path, then:
o A pop-up alert message “Approaching Descent
Point” (TOD alert) or “Approaching Climb Point”
is displayed 60 seconds prior to reaching the
TOD
o The message remains in view until the TOD is
reached unless replaced by a higher priority
message.
When the aircraft reaches the TOD or if the calculated TOD
is behind the aircraft in the flight plan path, then:
o A pop-up message “Descend” or “Climb” is
displayed
o The message remains in view until the aircraft has
descended by 500 feet unless replaced by a higher
priority message.
When the aircraft is within 500 feet above/below the target
altitude (BOD):
o A pop-up message “Approaching Target Altitude” is
displayed.
o The message remains in view until the aircraft is
within 100 feet of the target altitude unless replaced
by a higher priority message.
