CONNECTION TO AN EXTERNAL
TRAFFIC SOURCE
ZAON XRX - SERIAL SETUP
Configuration of the Zaon XRX
To configure the Zaon XRX, perform the following steps:
• Using the XRX AIRCRAFT menu, set the aircraft type as
appropriate for your aircraft as described in the ZAON users
Manual.
• Using the XRX RANGE menu, set the horizontal detection range
to 6 nm radius.
• Using the XRX ALTITUDE menu, set the altitude limitation to
2500 ft.
• Using the XRX COM menu, set the third party communications
to PROFILE 1.
o Verify the XRX configuration switches are set as
described in the XRX Users Guide for third-party output.
• Press Mute to return to the traffic screen. This screen will show
“PROFILE 1”.
• Set the configuration switches on the Zaon XRX to the correct
configuration to use the RS-232 output.
Configuration of AV8OR
To configure the AV8OR ACE to receive external traffic data,
perform the following steps:
• If the Weather Source is set to “COM 1” or “COM 2”, it
must be changed to Bluetooth or a different COM port than
is used by the ZAON or None.
• From the Aviation Main Menu, tap the
soft key to
open the System Setup Menu.
• Highlight the Device Setup option and tap the SELECT soft
key to show the Device Setup page.
• The AV8OR ACE must be set up so that the Traffic Port is
configured as “COM 1” or “COM 2”. The Type must be set
as “ZAON Traffic”.
